This step-by-step applies to all of our electric bikes, if you have any trouble, please reach out to us or to your local bike shop.
TOOLS REQUIRED:
- Wrench (if removing the rear wheel)
- Tire levers (plastic)
- Replacement tube or a patch kit
- Inflation device for use with a schrader valve
(optional) a pick type object that won't make the hole larger, but allow for the user to dig out debris from tire.
STEPS FOR REMOVING TIRE TO REPLACE/PATCH TUBE:
- First, remove the wheel from the bike (refer to wheel removal guides if this is one of your first attempts, listed also in articles)
Note: In most cases, you only need to remove one side of the tire from the rim to accomplish the flat tire repair
If the tire is still hooked into the rim and not loose in the center of the rim:
- To pull the tire over the rim and get the tube out, push at least one side of the tire bead off of the edge of the rim into the center channel of the rim
- Notating how the logo of the tire (the hot patch) is aligned with the valve will greatly help to track down the cause of the puncture
- Using your tire lever(s) on the unseated bead of the tire, hook underneath the tire and pull the lever down, pulling the tire to the edge of the rim, continuing until the bead of the tire comes free of the rim
(If you need to remove the tire for replacement due to wear, continue to pulling the second tire bead over the rim)

- Once one side of tire is free from the rim, you can leave the rest of the tire in place and focus now on the tube and finding the puncture
- Remove the tube from the tire/rim
Note: Make sure to keep the tube facing the same direction as the wheel, when tube is removed, to help locate the puncture in the tire - Inflate the old (punctured) tube, once inflated; you should be able to feel the air coming out through the puncture location
- Once the puncture in the tube has been found (you can mark the spot on the tube with a permanent marker)
- Holding the tube beside the wheel/tire, re-align the valve of the tube, with the valve hole of the rim, you should now have an idea of where to look in the tire for an entry point from the puncture

Note: Be sure to remove any material still in the tire, in most cases; material left over in the tire can be the cause of your next flat tire
- You can use a pick type object that to help remove any debris left in the tire
STEPS FOR INSTALLING NEW TUBE / RE-INSTALLING A PATCHED TUBE:
- Inflate the tube slightly, not to the point that the tube is round again; but to give it enough shape that it won't get caught between the tire and rim during installation
- If tire was removed during install, re-install one bead (one side) of the tire, leaving the second side uninstalled so that you can install your tube
- Align your tire logo (hot patch) with the valve hole
- Insert your valve into the rim / valve hole, and push the tube up and into the tire
Once tube is inside tire, and the valve is in the rim, you can begin to reinstall the second side of the tire

MOUNTING A TIRE ON A RIM / SEATING A TIRE BEAD:
- Start from one side of the tire (at the valve, or opposite of the valve), and begin tucking the tire bead into the rim with your hands

- If the tire gets tight, and won't push onto the rim easily, check that tube is not caught between the tire and rim
- Use your thumbs or a tire lever to get the bead to get over the rim, making sure that the bead is not sticking over the rim on either side
- Begin inflating your tire, take note of the max PSI inflation, check bead of tire regularly to avoid having the tire come off the rim, this can risk popping your tube
*Watch that bead of tire is not separating from rim while inflating*
26" x 4" tires: stop and check bead at 10-15psi, and then continue inflating to manufacturer PSI range, marked on tire
20" x 4" tires: stop and check bead at 10-15psi, and then continue inflating to manufacturer PSI range, marked on tire
26 x 1.9-2.1" tire range: stop and check bead at 30-40psi, and then continue inflating to manufacturer PSI range, marked on tire
- Once you have checked the bead at the suggested PSI levels, inflate to manufacturer PSI range, marked on tire
Never ride your eBike with under inflated or over inflated tires, this can pose a great safety risk to the rider
Reinstall wheel on bike once repair is completed
Enjoy riding your electric bike!
