This step-by-step applies only to the Groove ebike (Other Gen3 ebikes use a different headset).
Tools Needed:
- 6mm Hex key
- Adjustable wrench (adjust to 36mm)
- Spanner
- Assembly Grease
Headset / Cockpit Assembly
1. Assemble the middle portion of the handlebar system.
- Connect the bottom two pieces of the handlebar system, then it will be partially assembled (separate from bike at this point).
- Use the lever identified in the picture below to fasten the two pieces together. Make sure the lever is tight enough to hold both pieces together securely.
Note: Upper portion of this system is marked with a "minimum insertion" indicator. Be sure to insert this piece far enough so that this label is hidden inside the accompanying piece.

2. Check tightness of headset before inserting your partially assembled handlebar system.
- Use a spanner to remove locking ring from headset (marked below with red arrows).
- Use adjustable wrench to adjust locking nut (tighten if there is movement or "play" in the headset, loosen slightly if movement of your fork feels rough or stiff).
- Replace and tighten locking ring by threading it on top of the locking nut.

3. Once your headset is adjusted properly, connect the handlebar system to the headset.
Note: Final alignment of the handlebars will be the last step in this guide, so no need to worry about alignment at this stage.
- Grease the inside of the steerer/head tube before inserting quill stem.
- Insert partially assembled handlebar system into the greased steerer/head tube.
- Once you have inserted the quill stem into the headset, secure the handlebar system by using the lever to fold open the handlebar system and access the tightening bolt for the quill stem.
- Tighten quill stem bolt with a 6mm hex key until there is no play in handlebar system. You will need to access this bolt once more in the alignment process.
- Fold handlebar system up into its original position and use the lever to latch the folding piece into place. Finish this step by twisting the security clip to lock the lever and prevent it from unlatching during riding.

4. Once the partial handlebar system is inserted, you can begin to attach the main handlebar to the stem located at the top of the handlebar system.
- Insert the main handlebar into the stem clamp. Use the grooves in the alloy pieces to center the bars in the stem clamp.
Note: Keep in mind the position of the bars (left to right) and rotation of the bars (forward and backward). Also make sure your bars are facing forward and cables are routed properly, this will prevent limitations in your steering capacity.
- Once main handlebar is in the correct position, secure the positioning by tightening down the stem clamp.
- Finally, Align the handlebars and handlebar system with the front tire to ensure a proper and safe steering position. You will need to access the quill stem bolt again to loosen it. At this point you can twist the entire handlebar system to align it with your front wheel. Once aligned, tighten the quill stem bolt and re-secure the latch on the folding portion.
