Rider safety should be at the forefront of your mind when riding an ebike. With the increase in average speeds possible with the motor, an increase in precautions should be taken to prevent an accident. It takes as little as 200 PSI to fracture the average human skull dependent on point of impact. A 125 lb. rider can achieve this impact force traveling below 5 mph. There are a few misleading studies that state otherwise but the vast majority of scientific analysis proves the efficacy and necessity of helmets in reducing and preventing head/brain injuries.

Listed below are considerations to be made before and during a ride to ensure your safety.

WEAR A HELMET. Having an intact brain is cool!

  • Wearing a helmet reduces the likelihood of head injury by 85%
  • Wearing a helmet reduces the likelihood of a BRAIN injury by 88%

USE YOUR LIGHTS ANY TIME OF DAY. Increase your visibility.

  • Strobe/Flash settings during daylight hours
  • Constant settings at night

WEAR BRIGHT/REFLECTIVE COLORS. More visibility!

  • Bright colors attract the right kind of attention
  • Reflective panels work without batteries

AVOID HEADPHONES. Cause, Situational Awareness.

  • If you really want tunes on your ride consider a compact Bluetooth speaker or bone conducting headphones instead.

USE HAND AND ARM SIGNALS TO INDICATE TURNS AND STOPS. Communication is key.

MAINTAIN/ADJUST YOUR BRAKES. The most important safety feature.
