How to replace the Key Lock Mechanism inside the Groove Battery
Required Tools: Philips Screwdriver
STEP 1: Remove the Battery From the Groove
STEP 2: Make Sure the Key is in the "Unlock" Position



STEP 3: Remove 4 Screws from the top of the battery

STEP 4: Gently peel back the cap from the battery

STEP 5: Remove 2 flat top Screws to release the Lock Mechanism

STEP 6: Remove Lock Mechanism from the cap
-Be gentle and mindful of the rubber seal on the lock mechanism hole. Remove the Rubber Seal


STEP 7: Remove the 2 round top screws to separate the Lock Mechanism from the wiring harness
***THERE IS A SMALL SPRING INSIDE THE CENTER OF THE WIRE HARNESS. DO NOT LOSE THIS SPRING***


HERE ARE ALL THE SCREWS AND PARTS YOU SHOULD HAVE REMOVED
TIME TO INSTALL THE NEW LOCK MECHANISM
STEP 8: Install new lock mechanism.
-Insert male end of lock mechanism into the center of the wiring harness
-Be sure that the spring is installed as well
-You will feel a little bit of resistance, as this piece is loaded by the spring. The resistance is normal

STEP 9: Reinstall 2 round top screws to secure the new lock mechanism to the wiring harness

STEP 10: Reinstall lock mechanism and wiring harness back into battery cap
-Be mindful of the Rubber seal must be reinstalled into the lock opening
-Make sure the beveled edge is on the outside of the battery & that the rubber is sitting flat around the diameter of the cutout




STEP 11: Line up Lock mechanism holes with battery cap holes & reinstall 2 flat top screws

STEP 12: Carefully pack down wires and line up battery cap with battery body holes
-Reinstall 4 Screws to secure battery cap to battery body


STEP 14: Reinstall battery into your Groove and enjoy the ride!
