eScooter Maintenance Overview

Scooters should be maintained on a regular basis to ensure worry-free enjoyment of your riding experience.  Just like with automobiles, Scooters require regular maintenance to ensure that small issues do not turn into bigger issues that leave you stranded on the roads, or could put you into a potentially dangerous situation.  Listed below are some recommendations for maintenance that should be carried out on a monthly and quarterly basis.  It is recommended that this maintenance be completed by a certified Scooter mechanic:

Monthly Maintenance

  1. Clean the scooter and remove any dirt, dust, or excessive oil from all parts.
  2. Check tightness of quick release levers, nuts, and bolts.
  3. Check the deck for signs of excessive wear.
  4. Check the tire pressure and make sure that it is within recommended ranges identified on the sidewalls of each tire.  Look for tire wear.
  5. Check the brake pads and look for signs of excessive wear.  Brake pads should be at least 1.5 mm. Replace the brake pads, if necessary.
  6. Check the frame for any damage.
  7. Check wiring and connectors to ensure that there is no damage and the connectors are secure.

Quarterly Maintenance

In addition to the items identified above in the Monthly Maintenance, complete these additional items:

  1. Check the tire tread for excessive wear.  Replace the tire, if necessary.
  2. Inspect all cables and housings to ensure that none are damaged or worn.
  3. Check the battery housing to ensure there is no damage and seals are secure, so no water is not getting into the housing.
  4. Check the headlight, taillight and brake light to ensure they are functioning.
