There are a variety of ways you could use your throttle.
You could use it as a booster to aid in starting from a stop. This would allow you to get back up to riding speed quickly from a stop light and then release the throttle and just use the pedal assist to augment your pedaling to keep you at speed.
You could use it like a turbo to allow you to quickly pass, and then release the throttle to continue your normal ride pace.
You could use it as an alternative to pedaling; however, this would drastically reduce your range.
The throttle has varying support based on how much you activate it, if you push it all the way, it will accelerate the bike to full speed. If the throttle is only pushed part way, the throttle will give you a varied assistance based on the throttle position.
